WHY IS PROTECTING TIGERS
IMPORTANT?
• Protecting tigers means protecting the forests, which are their habitats.
• One of Asia’s nine most important basins, which serves the habitats of tigers, also caters to the
water needs of over 800 million people.
• Forests that offset the carbon emissions of 25,000 cars annually are preserved for tigers.
• When tiger habitats are preserved, thousands of species can thrive there, and the conservation of
endangered species living in approximately 100 km2 of area is ensured.
• Due to 2022 being the year of the tiger, efforts were made in Nepal to increase the number of
tigers, resulting in nearly a threefold increase in the tiger population.
