HISTORY

Gulipek Textile was established in 1951 by Kaya Ali Gulgec. First weaving machinery was purchased in the early 60’s.
As one of the main textile producers in Bursa, the company rapidly became well known in Turkey, producing high quality silk fabrics for local wholesalers and garment makers. After the decline of silk production in Turkey, Feridun and Fehmi Gulgec, sons of the late founder of the company, concen trated on producing apparel fabrics of various other fibre types. In 1989, all weaving machinery was renewed, jacquard manufacturing was added to the production line and weaving plant became fully air conditioned for cotton weaving.

With the renewed technology, the company focused on creating, producing and selling novelty fabrics to the local customers. Gulipek began exporting fabrics in 1997. In 2001, Ali and Kamil Gulgec, sons of the two owners, joined the company after finishing their studies on textile technology, design and marketing. With the involvement of the 3rd generation, Gulipek Textile broadened its scope and started working with local and international designers to better address the needs of a wider array of customers. In 2007, the company built its own dye house to meet its’ dyeing and finishing needs, which ensured better finishes, quicker deliveries and better flexibility on sampling.
